I have come with praises in my heart to the GOD who never fails and who is faithful to all HIS promises.
This journey started in 2018 and between then and 31st December 2021 there have been so many challenges and so many testimonies.
My first application for appointment as a Judge to the High Court and the first examination I sat for it was in 2018 and that was simply for me to have an idea of the procedure and the requirements for same.
My second application and examination was sometime in November 2019 and to be honest I knew I hadn’t passed because the questions were difficult. It was also the time SL ministered on the 11th hour miracle and I keyed into it. About a week or so after the exam I hadn’t heard anything from the Judicial Commission but at 11.43pm on the Sunday before the scheduled interview(Monday) of those shortlisted after the exam, I received a phone call from the Secretary that I should report at the Commission at 9am on Monday for an interview!!! GOD came through for me.
After the interview and to the shock of many my name was included in the list of those to attend another interview in Abuja which I attended. However I did not make the final list of those approved for appointment as Judges. I was very disappointed and discouraged and I admit that I questioned GOD that since HE made it possible and took me through all the process then what happened?
So in 2020 there was another exercise for the appointment of High Court Judges so I submitted my application and sat the exam as usual. This time I read o and I passed so I was invited again for an interview. To the Glory of GOD I was shortlisted again for the interview in Abuja. I left Abuja feeling very sure that this time my name will be approved. However when the list was released my name was not included. I sent a text message to SL on 21/12/2020 at 3.47pm that I didn’t make the list again.
I was devastated and I told my husband that I wasn’t doing again. I was fed up and tired because the process was quite draining physically, emotionally and spiritually. But my husband said ‘ No you must try again’. I wasn’t convinced nor motivated and found it very difficult to start reading ahead for another examination and hoping to be shortlisted again.
However in September 2021 there was yet another exercise for the appointment of judges. Reluctantly I applied again and unfortunately I didn’t have the time to fully prepare for the exam because I was involved in an official assignment that was time consuming. So I prayed that the exam questions would be on topics I had previously studied. GOD was in control and I was later told that I did extremely well. I was shortlisted for the interviews in both Lagos and Abuja and on the 17th December 2021 my name was officially announced as one of the Judges approved to be appointed to the High Court.
Yet after the announcement, we waited for a date for the swearing by the Governor and by all indications it appeared that a January date would be given but GOD was still in control because miraculously (and the Governor himself said so at the swearing in ceremony that it was a miracle) on the 31st December 2021, I was sworn in as a Judge of the High Court. The journey was long but every step of the way GOD was in absolute control because between 21/12/2020 and 17/12/2021, I was nominated as a Member of a prestigious Panel for an official assignment which will forever be in my CV and I was also promoted to the highest level of my career in the Lower Bench with all the perks backdated!!!! It could only have been GOD!!!
During the 5am prayers in early October 2021 SL had declared that there are Judicial appointments and I just kept trusting GOD because SL always says ‘trust GOD!’ That is why I have come to testify to HIS goodness and faithfulness!!!
