BUILDING THE WARRIOR IN YOU – Day 20 – Praying for Your Friends and Foes

Day 19. – 20 January 2023

Scripture of the Day: Matthew 5:44

But I say unto you, ‘Love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who despise you and persecute you.

Meditation of the Day

The LORD JESUS command us, HIS disciples, to live at a higher standard than the rest of the world. We should not only love our neighbors as ourselves, but more importantly, we must love our enemies and even pray for them. It is unfortunate that many Christians don’t get this; they are still walking with a worldly mindset; they are still living according to the lower standard of this world, while the LORD is expecting them to live according to the higher standard of the Gospel. There are those who, instead of praying for their enemies are praying against them. I call that witchcraft. And it is wrong, sinful, because it is an act of open disobedience to the LORD.

What they don’t understand is the fact that by praying against their enemies, especially those who are Christians, they are in fact praying against themselves.

Because prayers you send against any one will turn back to you. Any curse that you pronounce against any one will turn back against you. But blessings that we give to our enemies return to us in multiplied blessings. Every prayer that we say for our enemies return back to us in multiplied blessings. Any act of kindness that we perform in favor of our enemies produces positive results in our lives; and in the long run bring GOD’s judgement if they don’t repent.

Why? Because the bible tells us in: Romans 12:14 to:

“Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep.”

‭‭Romans‬ ‭12‬:‭14‬-‭15‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

And in Romans 12: 17,19 & 21 says:

“Repay no one evil for evil. Have regard for good things in the sight of all men. If it is possible, as much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men. Beloved, do not avenge yourselves, but rather give place to wrath; for it is written, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord. Therefore “If your enemy is hungry, feed him; If he is thirsty, give him a drink; For in so doing you will heap coals of fire on his head.” Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.”

‭‭Romans‬ ‭12‬:‭17‬-‭21‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

We also should be reminded that we reap what we sow as seen in Galatians 6:7

“Do not be deceived, GOD is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap.”

‭‭Galatians‬ ‭6‬:‭7‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

As faithful and obedient disciples of the LORD JESUS we must learn to forgive those who hate and hurt us, those who want evil for us, those who wish and pray for our failure and defeat; and pray that GOD will change them, save them, if they are not yet saved, and bless them. This is the only option that we have towards our enemies; this is our divine responsibility to them: love them, forgive them and pray for them. Any other way is satanic, demonic, witchcraft and sinful.

Finally, we should always remember that our struggle or fight is not against flesh and blood (namely not against human beings), but against (invisible demonic entities) such as principalities, dominion, evil powers in the higher places and against the forces of darkness of this fallen world (Ephesians 6:12).

This is where we should focus our war efforts, these are spiritual forces we should be fighting against, not against our fellow human beings, who most of the time are just ignorant, lost and trapped in demonic webs, and have no idea what they are doing, like the people of Nineveh (Jonah 4:11)
